Following Westbrook being named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Monday (June 26), Swift sent the basketball star a message of congratulations. In her video message, Swift joked about the time Westbrook gave her the idea for her 2014 chart-topping, multi-platinum hit “Shake It Off.”

“I remember the first time you beat me at basketball and I was very upset,” Swift said. “If you remember correctly you said ‘you just have to shake it off’ and I got an idea.”

In the fun video Swift joked that she also taught Westbrook a thing or two when it came to his career, saying she taught him how to dribble and shoot.

While it is more than likely the reigning NBA MVP is not responsible for Swift’s massive hit that sold over nine million units, wouldn’t it be a great story if he did?
