For those of you who actually pay for your Netflix subscription, this one’s for you. The streaming service could soon increase their subscription cost for weekend viewing.
Netflix is currently running a test that charges its subscribers in Australia up to 20 percent more when they join the streaming service on the weekend, according to The Australian.
For those who have encountered the test, basic service has reportedly increased from $8.99 a month to $9.99, while standard service has gone from $11.99 to $13.99 and premium service from $14.99 to $17.99.
In a statement to Mashable, Netflix said no announcement in regards to higher subscription fees has been made and no subscriber has actually been charged. “We continuously test new things at Netflix and these tests typically vary in length of time. In this case, we are testing slightly different price points to better understand how consumers value Netflix.”
So, is Netflix following in the footsteps of Uber when it comes to charging more during high activity times? Guess only time will tell!
