John Mayer and comedian Dave Chappelle are teaming up for a two-in-one show. Unfortunately, unless you will be in attendance you will not see any footage from the show as the two stars are enforcing a strict no cell phone policy.

Thursday (April 27), John Mayer revealed plans for his upcoming comedy and music hybrid show “Controlled Danger” with Dave Chappelle. While this concept is already an interesting one on its own, what has caught fans’ attention the most is the show’s restriction on cell phone use.

The event page for “Controlled Danger” makes it perfectly clear that the use of cell phones during the show will not be tolerated.

“No cameras or recording devices will be allowed. Upon arrival, all phones and smart watches will be secured in Yondr pouches that will be unlocked at the end of the show. Guests maintain possession of their phones throughout the night, and if needed, may access their phones at designated Yondr unlocking stations. Anyone caught with a cell phone in the venue will be immediately ejected.”

The pairing of Mayer and Chappelle may seem like an odd one at first, however the two are actually good friends. Mayer of course previously appeared on the widely popular Chappelle’s Show and more recently the two honored late comedian Charlie Murphy during one of Mayer’s shows.

“Controlled Danger” will take place this weekend, April 28 and 29, at the Fillmore in San Francisco.

Mayer’s The Search For Everything Tour will return to our area this summer when he performs at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, New Jersey on August 18.
