Queen Bee is the top choice to voice the character of Nala, Simba’s childhood friend, in the live-action remake of The Lion King, according to Variety. The Lemonade artist is said to be director John Favreau’s top choice for the role.

While Beyoncé has backed out of future commitments  due to her pregnancy, such as this April’s Coachella, where she was previously scheduled to headline, the studio and Favreau are reportedly willing to do “whatever it takes” to accommodate her schedule.

Stars other than Beyoncé have already been lined up for the live-action remake. James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Simba’s father Mufasa, while Atlanta star Donald Glover will lend his voice to Simba.

The Lion King is just another addition to the continuously growing line of Disney live-action remakes. It will follow in the footsteps of films such as Alice In Wonderland (2010), Maleficent (2014) and the recently released Beauty and the Beast.

While she has not made a decision yet in regards to the film, Beyoncé’s appearance in The Lion King would not mark the first time the Grammy Award winning artist has made the jump to the big screen. Previously she has starred in films such as ObsessedAustin Powers in Goldmember and the Academy Award winning film Dream Girls, in which she earned two Golden Globe nominations from.
