The show’s creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss revealed the news on Sunday (March 12) at the annual SXSW Conference and Festivals, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“For years we tried to get Ed Sheeran on the show to surprise Maisie (Williams), and this year we finally did it” Benioff said. The creator’s statement was later confirmed by an HBO spokeswoman.

Shortly after the news started to make its way around the internet, Sheeran tweeted “guess the cats out the bag…”

Acting is something Sheeran has had his eyes set on. Last week, he reportedly told the British daily The Sun “”I really want to make a film that I do the soundtrack for and star in. That’s my next thing.”

2017 has already been an incredible year for Sheeran. He started things off with the release of two new singles “Shape of You” and “Castle On The Hill.” Both debuted in the top-10 on the charts, making Sheeran the first artist to ever have two singles make top-10 debuts simultaneously. Sheeran has also had one of the most talked about performances at this year’s Grammy Awards, he released his third chart-topping album and most recently he announced an upcoming North American tour.
