Did Ed Sheeran just spill the beans?
Everyone has been waiting for a followup to Taylor Swift’s wildly successful 2014 album 1989. Since the album’s release, Swift has flown under the radar musically with only one new song – her 2016 collaboration with Zayn Malik “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever.” Well, while there seemed to be no answer as to when Swift would come out with a sixth studio album, her good friend Ed Sheeran may have just let the cat out of the bag.
“Taylor (Swift) isn’t going to be releasing until probably the end of the year” Sheeran said during a recent interview with BBC. “Christmas is the smartest time to release because that’s when everyone buys records.”
Sheeran dropped the news when asked about the high points of the past five years.
“I think this year is going to be the high point. Seventeen is my lucky number, and everyone I was scared of releasing of albums around me released them all last year, people like Beyoncé and The Weekend and Bruno Mars” he said.
Who knows if what the “Shape of You” singer is saying is actually true. Everyone believed that 1989‘s followup was going to come last fall as Swift has historically released her albums in either October or November of an even-numbered year.
If her next album really won’t come out until next Christmas then it is going to be a long wait because we all need some new Taylor in our life ASAP!
